Admissions & Withdrawal Policy

Admissions & Withdrawal Policy

1. General School Admission Guidelines

Admission Entry Classes: New admissions are officially granted for Nursery to Class IX, and then from Class XI onwards. Direct admissions are generally not entertained for Classes X and XII, subject to strict CBSE transfer norms and board registration deadlines.

  • Entry Level Age: For the primary block, admissions commence from Nursery. To be eligible, a child must have completed 3 years of age at the beginning of the academic session in February.
  • Application Process: The admission form must be completed in full detail and submitted along with all required statutory documents before an application can be officially considered
  • Fee Policy: Once admission is officially confirmed, no fees will be refunded under any circumstances.
    • Transfer Documentation & EMIS Mandate: No student can be officially registered without the submission of a valid Transfer Certificate (TC) / School Leaving Certificate:
      • Within the State of Sikkim: For students transitioning from schools within Sikkim, the Transfer Certificate must be generated directly from the official EMMIS website of the State Education Department.
      • Outside Sikkim / International: For students coming from outside the state or country, a physical school leaving certificate must be submitted.

      2. Admission to Class XI (Senior Secondary Science Stream)

In accordance with the school's structural guidelines, admission to Class XI is strictly selective:

      • Course Structure: The Senior School Certificate Course offered here is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. It is a two-year Post-Secondary School Course recognized by all Indian Universities as equivalent to the Intermediate College Examination, qualifying candidates to begin three-year degree courses.

      • Selection Process: Admission to the Science Stream is highly selective under the regulatory education framework. Students completing Class X must formally apply for admission when applications open and appear for a mandatory Aptitude Test. Prior studies at this high school do not automatically guarantee admission to the Senior Secondary (Plus Two) course.

      • Core Eligibility Criteria: Apart from the minimum qualifications prescribed by the CBSE Board, the school applies its own strict internal norms for admission, which depend upon:

        1. Academic Performance: Excellent academic performance in the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE), Sent-Up Examination, Pre-Board Examination, and consistent performance throughout Class IX.

        2. Application & Attendance: Regularity in attendance and consistent work during Classes IX and X. Accommodation is reserved for students who demonstrate both high mental capability and a serious, sustained application to their studies.

        3. Character & Conduct: The candidate’s character and conduct during their previous years at Bahá?í School must show clear evidence of benefiting from the character formation offered by the institution. Mere academic performance will not make a student eligible for admission to Class XI.

      3. Student Withdrawal & Health Quarantine

      • Notice Period for Withdrawal: Parents are expected to give one clear calendar month’s written notice, or pay one month’s fees in lieu of notice, to withdraw their ward from the school.

      • Issue of Certificates: A School Leaving Certificate will only be issued after all outstanding school fees have been fully cleared and verified against school records.

      • Leave of Absence: Long leaves of absence are granted only upon prior written application submitted by parents or guardians and formally approved by the Principal. Leaves must be recorded through the official school diary.

      • Medical Quarantine Guidelines: A pupil who has suffered from, or been in contact with, any infectious disease must produce a medical fitness certificate from a competent medical authority before returning to campus. The following strict quarantine durations must be observed:

        • Chickenpox: Until scabs have completely fallen off.

        • Cholera: Until the child has fully recovered.

        • Measles: Two weeks after the rash completely disappears.

        • Mumps: Until the swelling has entirely subsided (typically 3 to 4 weeks).

        • Whooping Cough: Six weeks from onset.

Code of Conduct: Discipline, Suspension & Dismissal

To maintain a healthy, positive, and morally sound educational environment, Bahá?í School, Tadong enforces strict standards of student behavior.

      1. Code of Conduct & Corrective Measures

If a student does not respond to routine corrections, the school may implement disciplinary measures, including detention after school hours, academic impositions, formal suspension, or expulsion in extreme cases. No reduction or refund of fees is made for a child's temporary absence due to disciplinary actions.

      2. Suspension and Dismissal

The Principal reserves the absolute right to remove or suspend a student from the school if their conduct is deemed contrary to the good moral tone of the institution or poses a harmful influence on others.

      • Sole Authority: The Principal is the sole judge regarding the dismissal or suspension of a student. Parents and guardians, upon applying for admission, explicitly agree to accept the Principal's judgment on these matters as final. The Principal is not obliged to provide reasons for dismissal other than finding the student unfit to continue in this school.

      • Suspension Terms: The Principal reserves the right to determine the duration of any suspension. The gravity of the offense and the degree of damage caused to school discipline are the governing factors. A formal suspension serves as a final warning that the student is in immediate danger of permanent dismissal.

      3. Objectionable Behaviors Leading to Disciplinary Action

The following acts constitute serious breaches of school discipline and will result in immediate intervention, suspension, or dismissal:

      1. Irregular attendance or unexcused absences.

      2. Open disobedience, defiance, and habitual idleness.

      3. Rudeness, disrespect, or misconduct directed at any staff member.

      4. Dishonesty of any sort, including cheating in examinations/unit tests, and any form of stealing.

      5. Regular negligence of homework, classroom assignments, or a lack of cooperation in school activities.

      6. Vandalism, including writing on or deliberately damaging school furniture, campus equipment, or library books.

      7. Using obscene, vulgar language, or acting in an indecent manner.

      8. Leaving campus without permission or running away from school/home.

      4. Zero-Tolerance Policies (Immediate Expulsion)

A student will face immediate expulsion from the institution if they participate in any of the following extreme violations:

      • Consumption, possession, or distribution of alcohol, drugs, or intoxicating substances in any form.

      • Blatant, continuous disobedience and total disregard for school authority.

      • Participation in gang fights, physical assaults, or hitting with the intent to wound.

      • Organizing or participating in strikes, instigating serious trouble, or deliberately stirring up mischief to disrupt the school's operations.
