The Evaluation & Grading System

In alignment with the latest directives of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Education Policy (NEP), Bahá?í School, Tadong follows a continuous, comprehensive, and competency-focused assessment model. Evaluation is no longer a matter of rote learning or a single high-stakes final exam; instead, it maps a student's growth consistently throughout the academic year.

1. Criteria for Promotion

  • Minimum Passing Threshold: For a clear pass and promotion to the next class, a student must secure a minimum of 33% marks in both theory and practical/internal components independently.

  • Attendance Norms: In strict accordance with CBSE bylaws, a minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory for a student to be eligible to appear for the final examinations.

2. Structure of Internal Assessments (20-Mark Component)

Everyday class participation and student consistency carry immense weight. For major scholastic subjects, the standard 100-mark evaluation is split into an 80-mark Year-End/Board Examination and a 20-mark Internal Assessment broken down as follows:
Assessment Component
Weightage
What It Evaluates
Periodic Tests
10 Marks
Regular pen-and-paper assessments to monitor consistent subject mastery over time.
Subject Enrichment Activities
5 Marks
Practical lab work, hands-on projects, map work, and speaking/listening skill assessments.
Portfolio & Submissions
5 Marks
Classwork quality, assignment completions, organization, neatness, and academic consistency.

3. Shift Towards Competency-Based Learning

As per the latest CBSE assessment patterns, question structures have been heavily reformed to promote higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). Assessments are designed to test real-world application rather than memorization, featuring:

  • Competency-Focused Questions: Multiple-choice questions (MCQs), case studies, and source-based integrated tasks.
  • Holistic Evaluation: Equal emphasis is given to co-scholastic domains including Health & Physical Education, Art Education, and Moral/Life Skills development.
